The 2015 Sprint U.S. Park City Grand Prix of snowboarding and freeskiing returns to Park City Mountain Resort this week Friday February 27 – Sunday March 1. With colder temperatures and fresh snow, the event will bring the best skiers and snowboarders to the slopestyle and halfpipe courses. Park City Mountain Resort is known for its’ rich Olympic heritage and the historical legacies that have been created from training and competitions at the resort.

The first ever USA Cycling Fat Bike National Championships took place at Powder Mountain, Utah today. Amateur and professional riders took to the six plus mile course covering +772/-748 vertical feet across Powder Mountain’s Hidden Lake. Fat bikes have emerged as the fastest growing segment in the cycling community in North America. Originally created to handle the rough Alaskan terrain, these bikes get their name from wide or fat tires built specifically for snow, mud and ice. “Powder Mountain is elated to be hosting the inaugural Fat Bike National Championships,” said Tim “Fuzz” Hall, Powder Mountain Sports Marketing Manager.

Under a single day attendance record of 48,500 people, Nick Goepper and Joss Christensen, two of the three Sochi slopestyle medalists that swept the podium, picked up from where they left off with Goepper getting the gold and Christensen the silver in Men’s Ski Slopestyle at the X Games in Aspen, Colorado.

With the win, Goepper became the first male to three-peat the event since Tanner Hall. “It is a pretty cool feeling to be able to do something that not many other skiers have accomplished in our sport,” Goepper said. “Our sport is still in its youth so to be a such a big part of its history from the Olympics to this three-peat at the X Games is such an honor. To remain consistent in slopestyle is so difficult, so its great to have all of the hard work pay off.” Park City, Utah native Joss Christensen continued his rise to be a consistent threat to the top of the podium placing second in the competition, earning his first ever X Games medal.

“For the last two years, I have become so consistent in the way I ride and the way I compete,” Christensen said.

In front of 13,600 people, the largest opening night crowd in X Games history, Danny Davis returned to the top of the podium in Men’s Snowboard Superpipe at X Games Aspen 2015. After winning the gold last year, Davis commented that the win was bittersweet because while winning the gold was great, it just wasn’t as good since Shaun White was not in the competition. This time around White was in the finals, seeded second overall behind Davis. “X Games is such a different competition, a whole different level of competition,” said Davis. “You’re competing again the best in the world, there are fans lined up all down the pipe and you look down at the bottom of the pipe and it’s a sea of people all screaming for you. As a rider you can feel their energy at the top and you can hear them and you go out to put down the best run you can.

With two storied skiers sitting on the edge of history, both Lindsey Vonn and Hannah Kearney broke records in Downhill Alpine and Freestyle skiing in their respective ski disciplines. Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) in Italy, put down a near flawless super G run Monday to win her 63rd Audi FIS Ski World Cup and etch her name into the record books as the winningest women's World Cup racer ever. Skiing at the end of the top seed in the 22nd start position, Vonn took command from the start and posted a .85 second margin over Austria's Anna Fenninger. After winning the downhill yesterday Sunday, the Super G win, boosted her beyond the mark of 62 set by Austria's Annemarie Moser-Proell between 1970-80. "It’s amazing—words can’t describe my feeling," said Vonn. "63 feels incredible.
